Weed Etiquette

Here are some ground rules for smoking in groups!

Whether you’re a novice smoker or a seasoned stoner, you have likely lit up with a group of friends and have noticed that there are some ground rules that you’re expected to abide by.

  1. If you are providing the weed and rolling the joint or packing the pipe, you are entitled to the first hit.
  2. Always pass the weed in the same direction, so it goes around in a circle. ( Cut that 2nds and 3rds out)
  3. You can take up to two hits; then pass the joint or pipe (puff, puff, pass). Don’t hold onto it after you are finished.
  4. When smoking, try to keep the tip as dry as possible. (i.e. Try not to wet your lips before puffing.)
  5. If you are smoking from someone else’s stash, never insult their weed. If you don’t like what they have to offer, try introducing them to what you like; they’ll learn the difference.
  6. Conversely, it is always polite to compliment your hosts for their weed, joint rolling skills, or sweet vaporizer. (Talking shit is MANDATORY :) )
  7. If you are hosting anyone at your abode, offer drinks! You don’t want your friends to suffer from the dreaded cottonmouth. Also consider offering snacks that you have around. Munchies can creep up easily and often.
  8. When you are a guest, offer to help clean up before you leave. Dump ashtrays, throw away trash, pick up dishes. That way you’ll get invited back to smoke again!

Q: WHAT MAKES A STRAIN A SATIVA, EXACTLY?

Cannabis sativa is a tall, spindly plant with longer, thinner leaves and, when smoked, the effect is more cerebral and upbeat. Sativa strains get you high, whereas indicas get you stoned. A pure sativa should have an energetic, uplifting effect. Sativas are more likely to induce paranoia, and less likely to induce sleepiness or “couch lock.”
